Opened in 1943 by German-born Gustav Horcher, this elegant venue is currently managed by Elisabeth Horcher, the fourth generation of the family to run the restaurant. The menu is filled with Central European delicacies, like herring with cream sauce and potato pancakes, a cream of lentil soup with frankfurter, roe deer Stroganoff and Hungarian goulash. There are also nods to Spain, like a ragout of sole with red prawns, and to France: Bresse pigeon is served with a Périgord sauce. The wine cellar is one of the best in Madrid.
