Strategically located between Manchester and the Lake District, in no time at all, Moor Hall has positioned itself as one of the chief reasons to head up north to eat. That’s down to the hard work of chef patron Mark Birchall, the Roux Scholar and former L’Enclume head chef who returned to his native Lancashire in 2017 to create a modern British restaurant-with-rooms on a par with Europe’s finest. The restaurant, a glass-walled extension to the Jacobean manor, has its own organic kitchen garden, cheese room, fine wine cellar and, soon, a dairy.
