Luke French and Stacey Sherwood-French’s upcycled shipping container restaurant Jöro (the name is old Norse for “earth”) has been at the vanguard of the Steel City scene since 2016. The pair have grown the brand to include a cool B&B – House of Jöro – as well as two chef’s tables and an online offering. The cuisine looks increasingly eastward; dishes on the keenly priced, 5-, 8-, and 10-course menus might now include venison larb, stuffed morel teriyaki or Yorkshire rhubarb crumble with roasted koji custard. The 10-course menu at £95 is one of the best deals in the world of fine dining.
