Once described by OAD’s own Steve Plotnicki as Britain’s coolest restaurant, Stockport’s Where The Light Gets In, at six years old, is doing all it can not to cede its title to some younger pretender. Founder Sam Buckley has collaborated with Manchester Urban Diggers on a community growing space and opened Yellowhammer, a pottery, bakery and “occasional” wine bar nearby. The WTLGI experience is eccentric, endearing and ethically minded. The chefs themselves serve the damson wine–glazed venison or stuffed Shetland mussels with local foraged three-cornered leek, all to a soundtrack provided by a turntable spinning classic vinyl LPs.
