A caravella is a small ship of the kind Columbus sailed on his fateful journey to the Americas. And had you not known before, you’d realize it as soon as you set foot inside this quaint little restaurant in Venice: The whole décor – dark wood-paneled walls, wine casks, red candles – is meant to recreate the interior of a ship. The food is, luckily, much better than what you might expect on your sea travels: Think baccalà mantecato (whipped salt cod), spaghetti with granseola (a highly prized local variety of crab) and tuna cutlet.
