With its wood floor, white tiles and bare bulbs, Portland in Fitzrovia is every inch the modern neighborhood bistro. Opened in 2015, it was the first in Will Lander and Daniel Morgenthau’s now three-strong Woodhead Restaurant Group (see also Clipstone and the Quality Chop House). Pristine British produce handled with care is a calling card. Curated by the son of wine royalty (Jancis Robinson is Lander’s mom), the list has been carefully chosen, with a good portion of the list served by the glass and carafe, and there’s a single bottle list of precious bottles from Condrieu to California.
